Destitute after being conned by recent beau, Dylan, 51-year-old Nadine Bishop learns she’s inherited a derelict mansion belonging to her first lover under the condition she allow his ne’er do well son Remmington to remain on the property. There are conditions, however: should Remmington become employed, and 90-days sober within the first six months after his father’s death, she will be left with nothing.
Meanwhile, Remmington has no intention of allowing his inheritance to be scooped up by his late father’s mistress. Nor does he intend to succumb to the conditions of the bequest. When legal maneuvers fail, he turns to Caroline, a cartel-adjacent con artist from his past, along with a disgraced former high school teacher. With their help, he intends to thwart his late father’s meddling, and reclaim his birthright. However, mixing it up with diehard criminals might not be the best way to succeed.
In this page-turning crime romp, surprises abound. (Watch this space for preorder date)!
The Bequest will appeal to readers of humorous crime fic, like Christopher Brookmyre and Janet Evanovich.
